Rules and policies

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Accident, Injury and Illness

Sick children should be kept at home until they recover. In case of accidents, injury or sudden illness at school children report to the office. First aid is administered by office staff. Every effort is made to contact parents if children need to be taken home or for medical attention. If parents are unavailable, the school will contact another nominated emergency contact as recorded on the Information Sheet. Please assist us to maintain accurate information by informing the school of any changes to your address and contact details.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

Advise us of absences

If your child is absent for the whole day due to illness, please notify the school. This can be done on the day of their absence by telephoning or emailing the school or by completing the form on our Skoolbag app. Please be aware, if your child is absent and we have not been notified in the morning on the day of their abscence, an email will automatically be generated from our attendance system and sent to you.

Arriving Late

If your child arrives late to school, please either telephone the school or come to the office with the reason for the late arrival. The class roll can then be amended and a late arrival slip issued.

Leaving Early

If you need to pick your child up early, please come to the office so that the class roll can be amended. If possible, please inform the school in advance of your intention to pick up your child early and we will endeavour to have your child waiting at the office for you.

Dropping off items to students at school

If your child has forgotten any items, their hat, drink bottle, lunch, musical instrument etc, please do not go straight to the classroom to drop it off to them.  All visitors to the school are required to come to the office.

Absent for Extended Leave

If your child will be absent due to travel for three or more days, you must complete an Application For Extended Leave - Travel form at least one week prior to your departure. This needs to be completed and handed back to the office with proof of travel, for example a copy of your itinerary or airline ticket for the Principal's approval. If approved a certificate will be organised and the absence recorded on the school roll as approved leave. You must take the certificate when you travel. Application for Extended Leave - Travel.

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.
